Michel and Juliette are married. As much as she learns to love him the way he loves her, she still can't help but to flirt with Michel’s brother Antoine, leading to friction between them. Antoine and Juliette have an affair; when word spreads, everyone tries to convince Michel to leave. He doesn't want her to go though; instead he tries to win back Juliette with a pistol. An important film this is, as it catapults Brigitte Bardot to film star status and shares many of the characteristics of that era of French cinema, particularly the vividness of the photography and the sheer energy.
