Pablo,
an arrogant gay film director, is caught up in complicated
correspondence with the young man he loves but who may
or may not love him after his encounter with the gorgeous
Antonio. Punctuated with rich, incidental and off-beat
humour, the film proceeds briskly towards its melodramatic
conclusion. Like all of Almodovar's films, there is always
something to offend and delight everyone in this only-seen-to-believe
picture.

Gloria
is a typical Madrid housewife living with numerous
problems – her abusive taxi-driver husband is obsessed
with an ex-Nazi chanteuse; one teen son is a drug dealer
while the other a promiscuous homosexual who sleeps
with schoolmates' fathers. Things can't get much worse
until a bizarre set of incidents lead her to a murder
by hambone and a labyrinthine plot to forge Hitler's
diaries! Almodovar's fourth feature is a sharp, erotic
and scabrously funny black comedy.

On
its face this 1984 comedy ought to be one of his most
irreverent: Yolanda, a junkie and nightclub singer, runs
to a convent to escape a murder rap, where the freewheeling
nuns -- who favor such things as LSD and soft-core porn--try
to save her soul. Wickedly funny, irreverent, this is
an outrageous portrait of aimlessness, spiritual desolation,
and moral bankruptcy.
