原罪犯 Old Boy

Oldboy is a story about the transformative power of hatred and revenge. Choi Min-sik stars as kidnap victim Dae-su who's locked up for 15 years by an anonymous enemy. Helped by the sushi chef Mido, he unravels a conspiracy that brings him eyeball to eyeball with the mocking cruelty of fate. This Cannes Grand Jury prize winner takes us on an exhausting journey into the darkened heart of the avenger. It shocks us not by amount of blood but by the nature of violence it exposes.

漢尼卡將1997年嚇怕所有中產階級的同名舊作《你玩得起，你玩唔起》移植到美國荷里活再拍一次，依然暴力得讓人吃驚。佐治帶著妻子安娜及十歲兒子，來到湖畔大屋渡假，被兩名陌生男子訛稱鄰居闖進安樂窩，從此精神及肉體受盡折磨。漢尼卡用以暴易暴的手段，質疑主流媒體不斷以暴力的影像供人娛樂消費，使人逐漸變得麻木不仁。

In his shot-by-shot remake of his own 1997 feature, Haneke uses the viewers’ expectations against them. He makes a bold statement about how the indoctrination of mainstream thrillers has made violence and terror acceptable for entertainment. Naomi Watts and Tim Roth play the comfortable couple whose yachting holiday is interrupted by two young nihilists on a sadistic mission to destroy the family’s smug sense of security.

Beat Takeshi plays a middle-aged yakuza gangster who is considering retirement. Reluctantly, he accepts an assignment to go to Okinawa to settle a dispute between two rival factions. Once he reaches there, he begins to suspect that he himself is in danger of being murdered by rivals. Pure, minimal and clean in its lines, Sonatine demonstrates how violent gangster movies need not be filled with stupid dialogue, nonstop action and gratuitous gore. Violence is as transient as a lightning bolt. It happens, and is over.
