《東京流浪者》和隨後的《殺之烙印》皆為鈴木清順的黑幫Cult片代表作。《東》是彩色代表,但以黑白作開場,跟之後鮮明的色彩形成對比,點睛式道出主題:一個東京殺手隻身浪跡天涯的選擇。憂怨浪漫的主題曲,充滿美感的佈局,畫一般的鏡頭,加上俊男美女,全長83分鐘的視聽享受。又大玩形式主義,以近乎滑稽的手法演繹西部牛仔片、黑幫片元素,惡搞味濃。渡哲也飾演食古不化的忠誠殺手哲也,所屬黑幫解散後,敵幫大佬邀他過檔被拒,轉移追殺他。他的舊大佬竟聯謀殺他,哲也逃避追殺,最後找上舊大佬對質。經歷連番背叛,最後選擇獨自流浪。
