導演河瀨直美過往多拍原著劇本，這次罕有改編多利安助川的同名小說。繼《第二扇窗》(第11屆)，河瀨直美貫徹對社會邊緣人物的關注，還首次在東京拍攝，有別於過往作品大都發生在家鄉奈良縣。故事講述樹木希林飾演的老婦一天來到一家銅鑼燒店，請求永瀨正敏飾演的燒餅師父讓她做餅，原來她是燒餅高手，她的銅鑼燒吸引熟客和慕名而來的顧客，包括內田伽羅(現實中樹木希林的外孫女)飾演的內歛少女。本來陌生的三個人合力賣餅，儼如三代同堂的一家人。可惜當顧客得知老婦其實是附近痳瘋病院的病人，紛紛避之則吉，不敢光顧。最終燒餅店還容得下老婦嗎?樹木希林把一個坦然面對人生桎梏的角色賦予生命的韌力，不動聲色地觸動觀眾淚腺之餘，不忘留下溫暖的安慰。

Sentaro lives a mundane life making mediocre dorayaki – cake with sweet red bean paste – in a small suburban street stand. One day, a kind old woman applies to be the store assistant, bringing with her a delicious homemade recipe for red bean paste. The two lonely souls eventually find a new purpose in life as their unlikely partnership leads to newfound success. Japanese auteur Kawase Naomi’s sweet, humanistic drama not only features a delicate and heartbreaking award-winning performance from Kiki Kirin, it also marked the first time that Kiki shared the screen with her granddaughter, Uchida Kyara.
