Swiss director Léa Fazer’s Little Cookie is centered on sister/mother-son bonding with a thriller bent. Flight attendant Adeline (Alice Taglioni) has lost her smile since her husband and son’s death in a car accident. One day, her Chinese cleaner asks her to look after her six-year-old son and disappears. As the boy doesn’t know a word of French, Adeline starts learning Chinese in order to communicate with him. Adeline’s sister Delphine (Virginie Efira), on the other hand, has a daughter but undergoes a marital crisis with her husband. Delphine’s ex, a police captain, offers his help to find the boy’s mother. When they find out the Chinese mother has been deported back to Shenzhen, how can Adeline take the passport-less “Cookie” to her? |
