She’s just off beautiful. He’s just off beat.

Lily is the quiet, awkward loner who doesn’t fit in anywhere - but that could change. Jarrod is a warrior in his own world who thinks he’s brave and powerful and is blind to Lily’s adoration – but that could change.

Lily crashes Jarrod’s party, ends up in his home town and lands a leading role in his hell bent plan to beat up an old high school bully. Together they tackle estranged family members and even stranger friends only to find the real foe may be in the mirror.

Eagle vs Shark delivers a poignant social punch about facing up to who you really are. It’s about accepting the good, the bad and the honestly awful - and when that happens everything can change.

About the Film and Academy Award Nominated Director Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi is one of New Zealand’s most promising young directors. He tilts the world and celebrates the lop-side. His success with the Oscar nominated short film Two Cars, One Night, was followed by the festival winning Tama Tu, about a group of Maori Soldiers in Italy during World War 2.

“Eagle vs Shark isn’t a romantic comedy rather a slightly dark, amusing tale with a little bit of love in it,” says Taika. “When the atmosphere is tense and uncomfortable that is when we feel the need to laugh most. The sort of humour I prefer, and write, comes from finding the lighter side of tragic.”

Waititi is an astute observer of human nature, an exceptional comedian and actor who has been critically acclaimed for his timing and subtle sense of drama. He brings to the art of film making a world that isn’t black and white. It’s a colourful, glorious mess worth taking a second look at. Waititi doesn’t paint the picture. He gently dumps audiences in a seat just off centre and brushes away the blur. In 2000 he was nominated for Best Actor at the Nokia Film Awards.

Taika is of Te-Whanau-a-Apanui descent and hails from the Raukokore region of the East Coast.

故事簡介

導演泰卡．偉帝迪

《狂鯊戀上鷹痴》的導演泰卡．偉帝迪是新西蘭最受注目的新秀，他的作品扭轉常規；歌頌缺陷。他的短片《兩車一夜》獲得了2004年奧斯卡金像獎提名，其後以Tama Tu，一部描述二次大戰時毛利族士兵在義大利種種經歷的作品，奪得影展獎項。
