In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan tore through the Philippines, killing at least 6300 people and impacting countless lives. Cannes award- winning director Brillante Mendoza (Kinatay, Service) sets his bleak drama Taklub (a.k.a. Trap) one year after the storm’s devastation, following survivors of Haiyan as their lives intertwine amidst the ruins of the city of Tacloban. As the characters cope with everyday matters, their acute sorrow and tales of loss are brought to the fore, while newer events test what little faith they have remaining.
