改編自曾獲第八屆茅盾文學獎的劉震雲的同名小說，電影由劉震雲之女劉雨霖執導，導演雖為影壇新秀，但早前短片《門神》已獲學生奧斯卡最佳敘事獎。擔任電影編劇的劉震雲戲稱電影版是「綠帽子下的史詩」，不同於時間地域跨度大、貫穿兩代人的長篇原著，電影不足兩小時，但透過人物的曲折心路和矛盾爭鬥，生動呈現出現代人的百年孤獨，對當代社會的洞察力不輸原著。年輕夫婦從結婚到離婚、從出軌到情殺，婚姻驟變，只因他們的感情被不斷忽略、渴望被無限擠壓。漸漸，原本說得上話的愛人無話可說、活生生的人畏懼活著、拿起屠刀的男人不想殺人…… 為了找到一個可以說句話的人，一個個普通人都在內心向全世界宣戰。

Up-and-coming filmmaker Liu Yulin won the Narrative Silver Medal at the 2014 Student Academy Awards with her short film Door God. For her feature debut, she adapts her father Liu Zhenyun’s Mao Dun Literature Prize-winning novel, One Sentence Worth Ten Thousand, which has been compared to One Hundred Years of Solitude for its multigenerational depiction of the quintessential loneliness of the Chinese people and the yearning for a kindred spirit. The director brings these acute themes to the forefront in her telling of a pair of siblings – one in a failed marriage, one seeking marriage – and the great lengths to which these two ordinary people will go to find someone to talk to.
