陳可辛夥拍《中國合伙人》編劇張冀打造賺人熱淚之作。故事取材於寫實的新聞題材「彭高峰尋子事件」，一對離婚夫妻田文軍 (黃渤 飾) 和魯曉娟 (郝蕾 飾)踏上尋子路，三年來穿州過省歷盡艱辛，途中結識同樣失去孩子的父母們，但漫長的搜索似乎徒勞無功，直至遇上擁有的安徽農婦李紅琴 (趙薇 飾)。後來，田氏夫婦終於找到了日思夜想的兒子田鵬，以為能一家團聚，豈料物是人非，兒子早已將他們視作陌生人，幼小的心靈猶如遭遇情感的第二次拐賣，同時也揭開了一個隱藏已久的秘密……
Following American Dreams in China, director Peter Chan turns his sharp humanist touch to the riveting kidnapping drama Dearest. Based on a true story, the film follows Tian Wen-Jun (Huang Bo) and his ex-wife Lu Xiao-Juan (Hao Lei) as they search frantically for their missing three year-old son Pengpeng. Years later, after numerous dashed hopes, they find Pengpeng living with Li Hong-Xin (Zhao Wei). But their reunion with the vastly changed Pengpeng proves difficult, and Hong-Xin convincingly claims that she is unaware that the child – who now calls her mother – was originally stolen. Besides a smart thriller, Dearest is a morally complex tale of opposing parents bound by desperate and unyielding love for one child.
