Synopsis
CBest known for his award-winning second feature Best Intentions (2011), Romanian director Adrian Sitaru invites us to an urban apartment complex where the already strained relationships among its residences are further complicated by their pets. Framed as a series of darkly comical sketches shot mainly from a single static camera, the film revolves around the domestic life of three men who live in the same residential building: Lazer the buidling’s administrator, Mihaes the taxi driver, and Toni, a young man obsessed with an imaginary wife that he only sees in his dreams. Also founded in the mix of these lively characters are the animals they are either dying to protect or ready to consume, namely, a dog, a chicken, a rabbit, a pigeon, and a cat, This whimsically surreal ensemble tragicomedy presents a curious and colorful picture of the post-communist Romanian society where the delicate relations between humans and animals remain unchanged.
