Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival - Broadway Cinematheque

Message from the Curator Text: Raymond Wong, Curator of Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival For every edition of Jumping Frames since 2004, we have commissioned new works and expanded the exploration of body and movement in film media with our audiences through competitions and screenings. We are one of the rare instances where a dance video festival operates under the structure of a dance company –providing rehearsal venue, dancers, administrative and technical support to those under commission. We believe the synergy help our directors and choreographers to concentrate on producing the best work. We believe this is what keeps Jumping Frames unique. We are excited to bring more and better commissioned works in this edition. The style of three featured films and three shorts are widely different, but one thing brings them together – the love they bear the city of Hong Kong. I was particularly would be moved it and I think you will too. This year, we don’t have our biannual competition, yet the Festival continues to focus and highlight the dancing body. From the cool guys in In Bed with Madonna, to big shots in the financial sector, to housewives in the parks, there are touching stories that will move you. This year, we also encourage exchange in dance video curation by including two shorts programmes, presented by Cinemovement of Singapore and tanzrauschen of Germany respectively. My sincerest gratitude to the great support from partners and artists which makes this a small-scale festival with limited resources a reality. Enjoy the films!
