Writing Hawa follows three generations of Hazara women in Afghanistan, documenting their struggle for freedom over five years. Hawa, once trapped in an oppressive marriage, begins to rebuild her life – learning to read, starting a business, and protecting her granddaughter from forced marriage. But in 2021, the Taliban's return shatters their fragile independence. Hawa’s daughter, filmmaker Najiba Noori flees to France, where she continues telling her mother’s story remotely, crafting a deeply personal portrait of resilience and lost dreams.
