Towards the late Tang dynasty, the Shatuo chieftain Li Keyong has thirteen adopted sons that are loyal generals including the thirteenth son Li Tsun Hsiao and eleventh son Shih Ching Szu that are great warriors. Because of jealousy sparked by the military governor Zhu Wen, two other adopted sons are in cahoots with the enemy to assassinate Li and Shih, with Li being killed by five horses while Shih dies in the battlefield.
