Comedienne Oshima Miyuki transforms herself for the role of middleaged male Fuku-chan in Fujita Yosuke’s second film. A hardworking construction laborer and a good friend to his fellow tenants in Fukufuku Flats, Fuku-chan is well-liked by most, but has never had luck with women. One day, unemployed photographer Chiho (Mizukawa Asami) visits Fuku-chan to apologize for a cruel act she committed against him as a teenager, starting a friendship that finally brings Fuku-chan out of his shell. Like Fujita’s debut film Fine, Totally Fine, Fuku-chan of Fukufuku Flats tells a gentle, bittersweet story about lonely social outcasts and the strange adventures they share. Laughout- loud funny and delightfully oddball, Fuku-chan is a must-see for fans of Japanese cult comedies.
