伊朗大師基阿魯斯達米的《10》,以十個片段敘述一對母子在車內的對話,而《千夫所指》的導演,正是《10》的女主角,今回由她自編自導自演的首作便一鳴驚人。同樣是片段式的結構,《千》藉著七段一對夫婦在不同交通工具的對話,反映伊朗男女不平等的現象,同時亦喻意了人生的不同階段。在這些對話中,男的代表傳統父權的既得利益者,女的則代表現代社會的理想主義者,不斷挑戰男性的價值觀,將不忠、墮胎、同性戀、自由戀愛等議題通通放上?,擺明車馬逐一解拆,難怪影片在伊朗當地被禁止公映。伊朗大師的入室弟子,初執導便體現了「簡單就是美」的道理,在低成本下拍出極富爭議性的電影,成功建立了一把新女性的聲音,一種新形態的電影語言。

Kiarostami's 10, 20 FINGERS steps into a similar arena by
capturing dialogues between two people in vehicle. The dialogues
are captured in 7 episodes, exposing us to the conflicting
values between a man and a woman within the confines of tradition
and family life in Iran. Each episode is devoted to various
life situations and displays a different form of male/female
interaction. The man actually represents the patriarchal values
that the woman is constantly challenging, crashing and pushing
forward. The placing of the actors in a moving vehicle or
against a moving backdrop signifies the movement of life despite
all the obstacles in its way. The film deals with the roots
of dependencies, limitations, power struggles and conflict
that are the familiar stuff of life of couples in the Middle
East.
