土耳其電影 一百年 從仿荷里活到本土堀起

首部土耳其賣座紀錄片，一位教師在土耳其東南部某偏遠村莊給庫爾德兒童教授土耳其語言，認為以土耳其語來學習知識才是正道，但孩子們不會說土耳其語，他又不能講庫爾德語，只能常常打電影給他的母親訴苦，感覺他在自己的國家中變成了異鄉人。2002年8月前，土耳其政府對使用庫爾德語施加限制，甚至禁止使用庫爾德語作為教育。Ozgür Dogan 和 Orhan Eskikoy兩位影人深入庫爾德族拍攝，平實地記敘了當地族人的教學紀實，不難看到這個西亞最古老的民族自從一戰被土耳其、伊拉克、伊朗等分割後有著強烈的獨立願望。

A recently graduated teacher is sent to Turkish Kurdistan in the southeastern corner of the country to teach Turkish at a village school. However, the teacher, who doesn’t speak Kurdish, quickly discovers that his students don’t speak a word of Turkish. Unable to do his job, the teacher feels like an exile in his own country as he tries desperately to communicate with his students. Filmed over the course of a year, Orhan Eskikoy and Ozgur Dogan’s documentary – a surprise box office success in Turkey – traces the teacher and the students’ efforts to understand one another while subtly highlighting the problems with the Turkish government’s indoctrination policy towards the traditionally Kurdishdominated region.
