Crossing paths on a country road, roving truck driver Ilyas (Kadir Inanır) and village girl Asya (Turkan Soray) fall in love at first sight. Running off together, they get married and have a baby, but happiness is short-lived. After losing his job, Ilyas goes astray and Asya witnesses his infidelity. Brokenhearted, she leaves home and meets a kind man (Ahmet Mekin), who takes her in and becomes a gentle father figure for her son. Just as Asya has gradually settled into her new life, Ilyas appears again. Based on a short story by Chinghiz Aitmatov, this romantic classic was selected as one of the Ten Best Turkish Films of all time by the Ankara Cinema Association.
