India's master dramatist Buddhadeb
Dasgupta takes on family intimacies, global politics and
time itself in this new film. In the film, shy Kolkata
office worker Sumanta struggles to come to terms with
his powerful father. The force of this paternal presence
often launches Sumanta into memories of his childhood,
when the family lived in an idyllic setting by the sea.
His father had a mistress then, which sets storms raging
at home. Sumanta is haunted by the past that has shaped
his present repression, a past embodied by his father.
