Hirata Yukata became
the first man in Japan to publicly acknowledge that he
had contracted HIV through sex, and Kore-eda tagged along
in Hirata's last days. Not aiming to document the “Days
of heroic fight with the disease”, Kore-eda's film is
a quiet observation of human's frailty and loneliness.
Throughout the interaction between the filmmaker and the
film object, marked changes evolved: Hirata's days are
numbered and his health more frail. The filmmaker queried
on the relevance of the filming itself. A moving documentary
that touches our hearts, it resembled a biographical novel
of Kore-eda. |
