Memories of Murder screenwriter Shim Sung-bo’s gripping directorial debut is based on a play about the real-life incident of illegal Chinese immigrants suffocating to death while hiding in the storage tank of a Korean fishing ship. Produced by Bong Joon-ho, this tense drama unfolds tragedy and terror in the fog-covered seas as the conflicting fears, desires and moral thresholds of those onboard lead to fierce clashes and grim choices. Kim Yun-seok leads the fishing crew as the ruthless captain who turns to human trafficking to stay financially afloat, while pop idol/television heartthrob Park Yoo-chun makes his film debut as a young fisherman who falls in love with an illegal passenger.
