清晨時份，天還未亮透，清理垃圾的青年在垃圾堆中發現一個秘密：那些沒有寄出的書信草稿，原來來自一個男友剛剛自殺的女子。她寫信申請出埠，探望遠方的哥哥，藉以離開這片傷心地，奈何苦苦守候，沓無音訊。一切都給垃圾青年看在眼裡。從未愛戀過的他，偏偏寫起情詩來，篇篇卻能觸動寂寞芳心……導演首齣長片綻放神釆，詩意的雪景，幽幽的配樂，融入新寫實的調子，產生詩情與寫實並重的化學作用。最後一個鏡頭，窩心。伊朗大師麥馬巴夫編劇。

A feature debut of Mohammad
Ahmadi, POET OF THE WASTES depicts the growing-up story
of an innocent 25-year-old cleaner who gets to know the
reality of his society through the garbage on the streets.
Also sharing his frustration and loneliness is a famous
poet who rejects his identity and claims himself a cow.
Meanwhile, a young woman is on the verge of breakdown
when her boyfriend is killed and her application for visa
to visit her brother overseas remains unanswered. Filled
with poetic images and metaphors, the film examines the
notion of life in a serious yet humorous way. Scripted
by Iranian master Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
