擅拍社會邊緣人的近代日本名導相米慎二生前一直打算把小說【輓馬】搬上銀幕，可惜他在01年突然離世。導演根岸吉太郎去年完成相米的遺願，把故事改編成本片《向雪許願》，秉承相米的風格，細訴人的失落與重生。北海道長大的學曾夢想到東京闖一番事業，卻鬱鬱不得志，要回到鄉下和哥哥威夫一起打理馬場。性格迴異的兩兄弟，沒有重逢的興奮，只有數不盡的矛盾和暗湧，後來因為一匹面臨人道毀滅的馬，令他們重新體會生命的意義。去年東京電影節破天荒橫掃四項大獎，評審團委員長張藝謀大力推薦。

Manabu, who once had big dreams
of success in Tokyo, loses out on a swanking urban lifestyle
and returns home at Hokkaido in midwinter. There his older
brother Takeo manages a stable for the horserace. Their
long overdue reunion exposes the personality differences
of the brothers and the complexities of their ties. When
Manabu puts his all into taking care of a horse that was
unable to win the prize money and is scheduled to be slaughtered,
he finds the new start in his life.
