Near the end of the Tang Dynasty, China broke into a world of chaos. Amidst the collapsing government, a group of men joined together to become bandits for their own financial gain. However, all goes to hell when one bandit falls in love with his hostage, quickly transforming the group dynamic for the worse. Mark Lee's first film as cinematographer earned him his first Best Cinematography award at the 1985 Asia Pacific Film Festival. Also the winner of Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design at the Golden Horse Awards.
