Before collaborating on the high-profile adaptation of NORWEIGAN WOOD, Mark Lee and Tran Ahn Hung worked together on this poetic family drama about three sisters reuniting for the anniversary of their mother's death. While keeping up appearances during their time together, they each possess troubled romantic lives that they intentionally hide from one another. In the process of capturing the picturesque summers of Hanoi, Lee intentionally blows up the contrast of the sometimes torturous sunlight, making it the all-seeing fourth protagonist of the film.
