國際知名藝術才女詩琳娜夏特，用心拍出政治動盪下四位德黑蘭 女性的綺麗風光，首作轟動威尼斯，抱走最佳導演銀獅獎。1953 年美英聯手策動推翻伊朗政府的政變，中年的Fakhri為愛而生而 死，雛妓Zarin的眼中已目空未來，年輕的Munis不畏強權，好友 Faezeh追求愛情的情操比犧牲還偉大。在五十年代伊斯蘭變天的 國度，小說原著中的四位女主角刺出了蘭花的魂，蒙著面紗外藏 著堅強的內心，霸權不止於強國，女人不甘於命運，從驚世中為 自由活過來。

Artist-turned-filmmaker Shirin Neshat crafts this adaptation of Shahrnush Parsipur's magic realist novel, about four Iranian women in 1953 whose lives intertwine as their country reaches an historic turning point. Young Munis finds her political awareness stifled by her domineering brother Assad, while her oblivious friend Faezeh only wishes to marry him. Middle-aged Fakhri is trapped in a loveless marriage and must reconcile her feelings for an old flame. And Zarin looks for hope outside of her life as a prostitute. As political turmoil swells around them, each woman finds liberation – through enlightenment, escape or perhaps even death.
