十個同一波蘭屋簷下的故事，以聖經誡命為主題卻毫不說教，娓娓道盡現代人的倫理困境。《十誡》本屬電視製作，但大師一出手即技驚四座，成為揚名國際之作。神秘不語的陌生人不定期穿插各單元之中，常被影迷引為美談。
The Decalogue is a ten-episode television series, each focusing on one of the Ten Commandments of the Bible. The stories are set in contemporary Warsaw, with all the characters living in the same big housing estate who are caught in the ethical struggles of everyday life.

第一誡：「不可信仰耶和華以外的神。」數學教授古茲托夫一向認為人定勝天，萬事萬物皆服膺於科學定律，只要掌握足夠數據，命運完全在我手。他還教兒子用電腦計算附近湖泊的冰層厚度是否宜於溜冰；然而，理性與科學可取代信仰嗎？

第二誡：「不可妄稱耶和華的名字。」女小提琴家向老醫生追問患癌丈夫還能活多久，只因她已懷有另一男人的骨肉。墮胎還是不墮胎？如此惱人的人生交叉點問題，老醫生願意助她作出道德抉擇嗎？
Decalogue 1 is on "Thou shalt have no other god but Myself." Krzysztof believes the world is governed by scientific laws instead of God. He teaches his son how to use computer to predict whether the ice-sheet on a near-by lake is thick enough to skate. But can god be replaced by science?

Decalogue 2 is about "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." Dorota asks the old doctor who lives in the same block about her seriously-ill husband, not out of love, but because she is having another man's baby. To abort or not to abort, this is the question now. Should the old doctor judge for her?
