第三誡：「守安息日。」對於波蘭人來說，沒有什麼日子比聖誕更重要，但找不到愛的人，在這一天最難耐。平安夜，雅努什和家人參加子夜彌撒，誰料被舊情人伊娃碰個正著，無法忍受孤單的伊娃，竟公然半夜找上門，聲稱丈夫失蹤，雅努什該如何是好？

第四誡：「孝敬父母。」活潑的愛嘉正值情竇初開的年紀，可是她偏偏卻愛上了最不能愛的人：她的父親米高。然而不久她發現，早已死去的母親留下了一封給她的信，信上說，米高不是她的生父......

奇斯洛夫斯基將兩條看來理所當然的誡命，用全新的角度詮釋；無獨有偶，皆指向一些不被世間許容的愛情。
Decalogue 3: "Honor the Sabbath." For Poles, Christmas is the most important day of all year. Without someone to love, lonesome people find this day unbearable. On Christmas Eve, such a lonely woman meets her former lover, a now-married taxi driver Janusz. She lies to him that her husband disappeared. What should Janusz do?

Decalogue 4: "Honor thy father and mother." An adorable teenage girl Anka loves someone that she really shouldn't: her father. Later she discovers a letter from her dead mother, which reveals that her father is actually not her biological father...

Everyone takes the third and fourth commandments for granted, but Kieslowski interprets them in strikingly new ways through these stories of forbidden love.
