Director Auraeus Solito introduces us to the Palawan world with PALAWAN FATE (a.k.a. BUSONG), a dreamlike discovery of the indigenous peoples of the Philippine island province of Palawan. Angkaran (Rodrigo Santikan) carries his sister Punay (Alessandra de Rossi) on a journey to find a cure for the sores that plague her body. They meet different people on the way, each a cog in the machine of fate and many, like Punay, in need of healing. Solito beautifully captures the Palawan people and geography, shining a light onto its elusive culture and unique vision of spirituality, karma and rebirth. Selected to premiere at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Director's Fortnight. |
